| Description : | Rattle; Wood; Church Clapper. Wood construction. Believed to be Pine. Some restoration has been done. One side was replaced. Item consists of handle, two tapered pieces of wood as the top and bottom and the thin slat of wood that is used to create the sound. When holding the handle, a swinging motion would cause the upper piece to spin around the handle which caused the inner shaft to turn. This shaft had notches that would allow the wooden slat to drop down and cause the clapping sound. Quite loud. |
| Commentaires : | Used on Good Friday services to call the congregation to the service. Bells were not rung and the organ was not played on this day. |
