Description : | Stole; cloth, silk thread; Shape is long and narrow with larger ends. The edging is all gold lace with a scalloped edge. All along bottom end are tassels. Designs of cross, leaves, and a heart shape are on both sides of neck piece with gold balls in heart shape and cross. It has a cord in center. Round hoops secure cord which is looped through a button on which two tassels are held. A cross in center. White lace on edge of center piece |
Commentaires : | Worn about the neck by a priest during services. The origin of the stole is often thought to be linked the napkin used by Christ to wash the feet of his disciples, representing the yoke of Christ. The present use of the stole marks priestly order. |
