| Description : | Book consists of twenty five pages, each machine lined with blue ink. The pages are enclosed in a cardboard covering, the outside of which is covered in shiny black paper. Pages are attached to cover using two staples inserted between center page of book and spine. Ten pages have handwritten entries, some in ink and others in pen. |
| Commentaires : | Monsignor Frederick Claude Ryan is well known today for his treatments and cures that have helped people from all over the world. Still today, there is great interest in his miracle medicines. He was born January 18, 1876 in Lewisville, New Brunswick and as a young boy moved to Kouchibouguac, N. B. He was the son of Patrick Ryan and Ann Donovan. He attended St. Joseph's University in Memramcook in 1891 and later in 1900 pursued his theological studies at Sacred Heart Seminary in Halifax. He was ordained to the priesthood on July 17, 1904 at St. Michael's Cathedral, by the Most Rev. Thomas F. Barry, Bishop of Chatham. Father Ryan's first assignment was at Tracadie for two years. In 1906 he was sent to the Tobique Missions. He was appointed Postmaster of the Indian Reserve in 1912 and also appointed Superintendent and Inspector of all Indian Schools in New Brunswick in 1916. In 1921 he became parish priest at Saint Thomas Roman Catholic Church in Red Bank, while still having Sevogle as a Mission. Fr. Ryan was appointed to the Roman Prelacy in 1950 and obtained an L. L. D. from St. Thomas College on May 1, 1950. He also earned a PhD. from St. Joseph University on May 25, 1952.Monsignor Frederick C. Ryan retired from active ministry in 1955. He spent his last ten years at Mount Saint Joseph Nursing Home in Chatham where he died on May 17, 1973 at the age of ninety-seven. Fr. Ryan became a self-made physician coming to the aid of others at a moment's notice with his miracle remedies and cures. There were no doctors in the area and the demand upon him was endless. Word circulated about his cures and ailing people from all over contacted him. His study of herbs contributed to his success in healing those afflicted with various diseases. The number of people waiting to see Fr. Ryan steadily increased causing him to set aside hours especially for healing. |
