Description : Base of chalice is eight sided and slightly elevated toward center. Cross set on side of base is centered with facial image of Jesus crucified. Pedestal is designed as a Celtic cross centered with a simulated ruby stone. Working on cross is done in deep relief style on both front and back. Sides of cross are plain gold-plated. Exterior of cup is plain with the words " hic est enim calix sansuinis mei" etched around cup and enclosed by parallel lines etched above and below wording. A small Maltese cross is etched at end of wording. Interior of cup is plain and finished in gold plating. Paten is slightly elevated on a circular ring. Etched inside this ring is the "Lamb of God" symbol around which the words "Ecce Agnus Dei" are etched and enclosed in ribbon design. This interior section is not highly polished. Top of paten is plain. The wooden case is built in two sections, a top and bottom, held together with two stainless steel hinges at back. Two stainless steel clip type closures are attached to the front. A rubber carrying handle is inserted into two stainless steel holders and riveted to case at front. The exterior and inner edges of the case are covered in black leatherette. A blue silk lining attached to cardboard is glued to inner sides of case. Padding under the lining is molded to suit the shape of chalice and paten.

Étiquette ou poinçon : Etched around outer rim of cup is " hic est enim calix sansuinis mei ". Engraved under base of chalice is " IN PRAYERFUL MEMORY OF HIS EXCELLENCY MOST REVEREND J. M. HILL BISHOP OF VICTORIA WHO DIED ON MARCH 29, 1962 R.I.P." Also, under base is " 800 ". Under paten is an illustration of the "Lamb of God" symbol and the words "ECCE AGNUS DEI".
