Description : The black and white photo is edged with a narrow strip of beige colored quarter round molding. The photo and molding are surrounded by a heavy cardboard ivory colored matting. The photo, molding and matting are covered in glass and enclosed in a wooden frame made of oak. The inner edge of frame is accented with strips of brass beading on all sides. The frame has been stained in a dark brown color. A brass plate is attached to the bottom center of frame with four small screws. The plate is engraved with details regarding the photo (see Marks/Labels above). Photo is covered on the back with heavy brown craft paper taped to edge of frame. Several strands of aluminum wiring are twisted together and are attached to two metal brackets which have been screwed onto the back of frame, thirty two centimeters from the top on either side. This wire can be used for hanging purposes.
Fonctions : This photo was brought from Montreal by the Religious Hospitallers of St. Joseph when they came to Miramichi (formerly, Chatham), New Brunswick in the 1860s. It was mounted in the Hotel Dieu Hospital and later in the convent occupied by the Religious Hospitallers of St. Joseph in Miramichi.
