| Description : | White quilt with autograph blocks. The corners of the autograph blocks are blue and there is a red square in the centre. The autographs radiate out from the red square on white strips of fabric and are embroidered in red thread. There are 30 blocks containing 16 names each for a total of 480 names (several contain Mr & Mrs in the same strip). There is wear and staining along each shorter end that has resulted in some of the names being illegible. |
| Commentaires : | During WWII soldiers would stay at Ola Morrell's house over the weekend, providing her with ample opportunity to gather signatures for her quilt. |
| Fonctions : | Quilt was made by the ladies of the IODE chapter in Amherst, NS and used by donor Patricia Willis's father, Harold E. Melanson, in the 1950s-90s before Patricia inherited it in 2001. Harold obtained the quilt from the donor's grandmother, Ola Morrell, who organized the making of the quilt and then ended up with it. |
