| Description : | Hair wreath mostly grey, blonde and brown. Finely woven with wire into flowers and vine trimming. Enclosed in a wooden varnished box. Lined with white fine cambric. Glass front on box. |
| Commentaires : | Originally came from Prince Edward Island. Made during the 1860s by Janet Murray of Little Shemogue of hair collected from various friends and relatives who visited her. |
| Fonctions : | During the 1860s and 1870s it was fashionable to devise a hair wreath as a pasttime while mourning. This wreath was made either from the hair of the one dead, or from the combined locks of the entire family. Set with a recessed frame of ebonised wood, it was hung up on the wall of a favorite room until replaced by another pictorial fashion. |
