Description : Large organ in two sections. Back is peg mounted. Roll top front. Two lampstands at sides. Includes guarantee & Instructions. W.Bell & Co. July 23, 1887.
Commentaires : Belonged to donor's great grandparents - may have been in Rockport but latterly from Johnson's Mills.
Fonctions : Bell Piano and Organ Company was established in Guelph Ontario in 1864 and in 1871 became W. Bell and Co. By 1881, 200 employees were producing over 1200 melodeons and reed organs annually. The firm was sold to an English syndicate in 1888 and the name was changed to the Bell Organ and Piano Co. Ltd. Bell organs were sold as far away as New Zealand and Australlia, Italy, Spain and Turkey. Bell organs were known for their quality of workmanship and attention to detail.
