Fonctions : Webley is famous for the revolvers and automatic pistols it supplied to the British Empire's military, particularly the British Army, from 1887 through both World War I and World War II. This gun is called a "Very", named after Edward Wilson Very (1847"1910), an American naval officer who developed and popularized a single-shot breech-loading snub-nosed pistol that fired flares (Very flares). They have a single action trigger mechanism, hammer action, center fire pin. This signal flare gun was picked up by a Grand Mananer (unkown) on the battle field at Vimy Ridge. Many Grand Mananers served in WWI, and a total of 13 of them lost their lives. Six of the 19 men who served in the 115th Battalion died in combat, and at least one of those, Carl Ingalls, died at Vimy Ridge, a battle that left 3,598 dead, 7,004 wounded and 4,000 unknown dead or wounded. Four Canadian divisions and one British division totaling 170,000 men fought against the Germans, led by Ludwig von Falkenhausen, under the command of Sir Julian Byng, in the Battle of Vimy Ridge in France, which took place from 9-12 April, 1917.
