Description : | Centre white patch has the family tree of Rev. Wm. Downey and family written on it, along with his name, the name and location of his church and the date the quilt was made by members of his congregation. Pink rectangles and small white corner patches make up the over all structure, with a pink star pattern of two butterfly-wing patches forming the four corners of the 8 point star pattern with a shite triangular centre to each star. Centre patch is the dedication and lists the family members of Rev. Downey, and the location and year. Throughout the quilt on the other star patches are signatures of members of the congregation. Many signatures are still legible, but some are faded or worn where the ink bled. |
