Description : | Small oak organ, brass oval plaque on top engraved "In Memory of L. S. P. Died 20, August, 1882" Made without stops and knee well levers. Black with gold print label on inside; "Prize Medal Philadelphia, 1876, Silver Medal South Africa 1877, Gilbert L. Bauer & Co., London 1878, Silver Medal Paris". Two pedal, two brass caning handles on each end(twisted metal). Stamped on top left corner: "20581".Ginger bread sort of trim across back and down the sides, veneer raised work on the face, two pedals- felt covered. |
Commentaires : | Presented to Oak Point Church in Memory of Lewis Sherwood Pickett who died in August 20, 1882 in Manchester, Virginia, eldest son of Rev. D. W. Pickett, 28 years old. As time passed the small organ was replaced by another and at Miss Beatrice Wellings' wish, this organ was given to the Kings County Museum. It was used in the opening ceremony of the Museum. |
