Commentaires : | C.H. Flewwelling was a member of the Flewwelling family who owned and operated G. and G. Flewwelling Manufacturing Company, Hampton, Kings County, New Brunswick, 1862 about -1916. Producers of matches, boxes and cut lumber, this company employed about 200 people. This industrial complex which was the G and G Flewwelling Manufacturing Co. consisted of a match factory, box factory, saw mill, grist mill and a general store. There was also a saw mill and store farther down river at Perry's Point. C.H. Flewwelling's talents as an artist and engraver were employed by the company to create company letterhead, designs for boxes, etc. C.H. Flewwelling was in great demand as an engraver and began his own company, Flewwelling Press which still exists in Saint John to date (2012). In addition to commercial work, C.H. Flewwelling created engravings for a number of books and was an active memeber and President of the Saint John Art Club. |
