Description : Bill heading - G. and G. Flewwelling Mfg. Co. Limited. [ History Box - H - 117 ]
Commentaires : The G. and G. Flewwelling Manufacturing Company, Hampton, Kings County, New Brunswick, 1862 -1918. The company was a prominent employer whose holdings included a match factory, lumber mill and box factory. Upwards of 200 men were employed at the Flewwelling manufacturing complex; this does not include the great number of men also employed in the woods and lgging camps to supply the mills. The company, began by Guilford Flewwelling in 1862, continued until 1918. A shortage of workers due to WWI, higher prices due to greater demand for wood, and other economic forces drove the company to close its doors. The mill and the company's woodland was sold to Randolph and Baker of Saint John. The mill buildings were dismantled and taken to Randolph & Baker's Saint John location and reassembled.
