Commentaires : | Made by N.B. Indians in 1929" This donor's information seems to be within the correct dating period for this basket. It may be Maliseet but is probably Mi'kmaq as it does not appear to have been made on a mold. The pastel pink and purple colours along with its small size suggest it was probably made as a diaper basket or a baby's dirty laundry basket. It would have had a cover that fits over the mouth of the basket and may have had a ring handle or a wrapped splint bar handle. |
