Description : | Plaque of brown wood, lettering is in gold. At the top there is a union jack and a red ensign flag, at the bottom there is a maple leaf. |
Commentaires : | Plaque was erected by pupils of Lutes Mountain School in memory of Lutes Mountain pupils who fell overseas during World War 1. The plaque was unveiled on Labour Day, September 1921 by Beatrice Trites and Olga Lutes, students of the school. The memorial presentation address was made by Kenneth Trites. Volunteers for the Canadian Expeditionary Force were questioned at the place of enlistment to complete the two-sided Attestation papers which included the recruit's name and address, next-of-kin, date and place of birth, occupation, previous military service, and distinguishing physical characteristics. Recruits were asked to sign their Attestation papers, indicating their willingness to serve overseas |
