Fonctions : | T J & J Mayer, Burslem (1842 - 1855) This saucer is one that won a metal at the 185l British Exhibition . Circa 1850's. Made in "Occupied Japan" Thomas, John and Joshua Mayer won a prize for pottery when they exhibited several of their items at the Great British Exhibition in 1851, 1853, and 1855. Among them was this flower-decorated plate, made in the Dale Hall works, Longport, near Burslem. Like all of their products (which enjoyed good sale in America) it has the Royal Arms marked on it. They were also heavily involved in the export trade to America. |
