Description : | A doll wearing a green tunic with a hood, brown gloves, green pants and puttees. There is a brown belt around the waist with a sliver buckle. The face has two black button eyes and a mustache. There is a green coloured material that starts around the collar of the tunic and runs down past the belt. |
Commentaires : | The doll Old Bill was based on a character created by Bruce Bairnsfather, who was a British humorist and cartoonist. He joined the Royal Warwickshire Regiment in 1914 as a Second Lieutenant in a machine gun unit in France. He suffered shell shock and hearing damage and was posted to the 34th division headquarters on Salisbury Plain. He wrote a series featuring Old Bill, about life in the trenches. |
