Description : A rectangular shaped postcard with an image of Intercolonial Railway Depot with black printing below. There is a message written backwards in black ink on the back. There is a Canada postage stamp in the upper right-hand corner on the back of the postcard.
Commentaires : The message reads: Stiles Village, Mar 15, 1912 How are you enjoying yourself by this time? I attended a party last Sat. night and had a nice time. Suppose you got mine previous to this. I will be in town on Sat. I think if nothing prevents take a walk down street in morning and you perhaps meet me. Don't forget. Yours as ever, E.M.Y.S. The postcard was purchased at R.R. Colpitts, in Moncton, NB. R.R. Colpitts ran the business from August 26, 1902, until 1916, when he passed away, and his son, Aubrey Lorne Colpitts, took over. The store sold stationery, office supplies, and even office furniture, under the direction of A.L. Colpitts, until May 1962, when A.L. Colpitts retired and the company was converted into a corporation called Colpitts the Stationer Limited. In 1999 it was purchased by Denis Office Supplies and Furniture of Quebec.
Fonctions : The message is addressed to Mr. H.B. Jones at 121 Bonaccord St, Moncton, NB. The message was sent from Stiles Village on March 15, 1912. The sender used mirror writing or backward writing, which could be deciphered when held up to a mirror. Additionally, the stamp, placed at an angle leaning to the left in the upper right-hand corner, could indicate "a kiss," according to the language of stamps that was often used in the early 20th century.
