Description : | Garden Seeder - wooden handles with two metal wheels and metal seed box. Once an arduous and demanding task, the job of planting seeds on a farm soon became far more simple and efficient with the arrival of the seeder. When a seeder is pushed or pulled along a plowed field, it makes a grove along the soil underneath it, and periodically drops seeds into the ground. Its then covered by the dirt that is pushed over it by the seeders blades and wheels, successfully planting the seeds. |
Commentaires : | The hand seeders were one of the revolutionary tools of farming. Before their introduction to the western world during the early Industrial Revolution sowing seeds was done purely by hand. Known as Cast Sowing it was an attempt at getting consistent field coverage but was made obsolete by the seeder. This seeder is especially interesting because it has a metal wheel with holes for different seeds. (This documentary series) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yXVzSkfPX4g |
