Description : | The grain surpluses that became endemic after World War II, ked to technological improvements in storage bins. Even until quite recently farmers were still using the old, square, wooden grain bins that could be moved around the field or farm yard on skids. The major disadvantage of these old bins is that grain had to be shoveled out of them by hand, something post-war farmers were reluctant to do, given the declining, and aging, of the farm population. |
