| Description : | This photograph shows the sampling rod used for grain inspection at the High THroughput elevator. High throughputs can clean the grain on site. Officials from the Canadian Grain Commission can inspect the grain right at the elevator before it is loaded. Grain used to have to be cleaned at the port terminal. One advantage of cleaning the grain at the elevator is that it removes the dockage " weed seeds, dirt, chaff and stones " before it is shipped. Consequently the farmer pays only for the transportation of his grain, not the dockage. |
