They run up the back of the trunk through a metal fitting in the back edge of the lid, across the liod, where they are held in place by two leather ballistyer shaped loops and through two other fittings on the front edge of the trunk. Each leather strap has eight eye holes. Each has a buckle on the end. The lock is metal, 'light bulb' shaped and brass coloured with the words 'EAGLE LOCK CO. TERRYVILLE CT. U.S.A.' on it. There are also two black coloured latches on either side of the front of the trunk. A leather handle on one side of the trunk is attached by black metal fittings. The handle on the other side of the trunk is missing but the two fittings are still in place. The side, front and back of the trunk each have two strips of hardwood running their length and held in place by the same clover leaf shaped fittings described above. The back of the lid is joined to the trunk by three black metal hinges. The inside of the trunk is made of strips of wood covered in paper.
