Description : WAFFLE IRON: Metal (cast iron). The waffle iron has an upper and lower plate, both plates have a handle. The upper perimeters of the plates are rounded. The inside of each plate is a depression; each is divided into four sections by two raised lines which intersect in the middle of the plate. Each of the four sections has thirteen raised squares with a round depression in the top of each square. The squares are in four rows of four, four, three and two squares. The top plate of the waffle has two rings embossed on it. 'FANNER MFG. CO. CLE(VEL)AND.O.' is imprinted in the area between the two rings. 'CRESCENT WAFFLE' is embossed inside the inner ring along with a crescent shape. The lower plate also has two rings embossed on it. 'No.8' is imprinted inside the inner ring. A semi-circle with a triangular point in the middle is embossed on both plates where the handles are joined. The portion of the handle joined to the plate is flat on the inside but rounded on the sides and top. The inside of the portion of the handle just described on the upper plate has small rectangular projection on it which fits into a small rectangular indentation on the inside of the handle on the lower plate. This section of the handle is 2.0cm long. The handles then curve upwards and become round. The remainder of the handle consists of a nail like piece of metal inserted into the first part of the handle. Silver coloured steel wire is wound in a spiral around the nail. The diameters of the spirals increase towards the middle of the nail, then narrow again to the size of the head of the nail. The upper and lower plates each have an identical projection on one side. The projections are flat on the inside, rounded on the sides and top and flat on the end. Each measures 0.5cm x 0.7cm x 0.9cm. The upper and lower plates are connected to each other at the end opposite the handle; the upper plate has two hemispheres between the centers of the spheres. The lower plate has a round disk, 0.8cm wide mounted vertically to it. One side of the disk has an indentation in it 0.7cm wide. The indentation fits over the pin between the hemispheres, allowing the disk to sit between the spheres. MEASUREMENTS: 7.9cm x 36.5cm x 19.5cm diameter.
