| Description : | One half-piece section of garden border edging. Unglazed stoneware. Moulded with decorative top border styled as scroll work with bull's eye beading and star motif interspersed between the scrolls. Plain, solid band beneath top border forms an arched lower unit with side extension for inserting into the ground. Illustration of identical garden border edging available in Silber & Fleming's (of London, England) catalogue for the 1880s. This piece of garden border edging was found by Point Ellice's gardener, Carolyn Herriot, in August 1995 when she was working in the Southwest kitchen garden area. |
