Description : | Dark green, full length, oilskin sailor's jacket with two pockets, four metal clasps and two snaps along the front. |
Fonctions : | Oilskin was worn by Foster Morris who was the keeper of the Mississauga Island light house until it burned in 1948. The North Channel shipping lanes were a busy place well into the 1950's. Ferries and ships carrying goods such as lumber, pulpwood, and coal trafficked regularly up and down the Channel. The lighthouse was kept by Foster and his wife Mary from about 1927-1948. |
