Description : B/W photograph of Trott's storefront on Hurontario Street. On the far left is a theatre, with a poster advertising the movie "Parole Raquet". To the North is a two-storey building which houses Roy Burmister's Billiards and Tobacco Shop. The large three storey brick building houses "Trott's Furniture Ware Rooms". The building is decorated in celebration of the firm's 75th anniversary. There are three large striped crests attached to the upper storeys. The left crest reads: "1862"; central crest reads: "Here 75 Years"; and right crest reads: "1937". Streamers are strewn across the top two storeys and a large Canadian Ensign flag hangs from the roof. Smaller Union Jack flags line the second storey windows. Signs above the entrance read from left to right: "Complete Home Furnishers - Trott's Here Since 1862 - Draperies, Rugs, Floor Coverings, Curtains, Shades - Trott's Funeral Service phone 25-41, nights 323-432". To the right is Whit Hammond Drugs. Written in ink at the bottom: "Roy Burmister's Billiards -Trott's- 75th Anniversary- Mar.12.1937." Written on top left corner: "2703".Written on reverse in pencil: "Trott's 75th - Anniversary - Mar 12. 1937 - R Burmister's on left - Whit Hammond's drug - store on Corner".
Commentaires : Whit Hammond Drugs was located at 72 Hurontario Street. Trott's was located at 74 & 76 Hurontario Street and Roy Burmister's Billiards at 78 Hurontario Street. All were on the West side of Hurontario, between Second Street and Third Street. History: Trott's was established by H.F. Trott, who was succeeded by his son Harry Trott in 1907. The brick building occupied a floor space of about 20,000 square feet. The business furnished many of the boats built in Collingwood. Mr. Trott was also a funeral director and embalmer.
