Description : | Match box holder. Single piece of brass bent to form a holder for a small box of wooden matches used by smokers. On the side is cemented a piece of copper in the likeness of a shell as decoration. Crafted from a military shell casing. |

Fonctions : | Brought back following WWI by Angus Gregg who served with the 56th Battery, Canadian Field Artillery, CFA. A gun layer, he sat on sights of an 18 pd. gun. He was a smoker and this was his personal match box holder. It was given by or bought from someone in the rear lines. Gregg brought it back to Glencairn Farm, which was on Lower Middle Road (QEW) and Fourth Line on the northwest corner and now part of Glen Abbey Golf Course. |
