| Description : | Colour photograph with white borders all around. Photograph of a Majorette group performing at the Streetsville Bread and Honey Festival. The young girls are wearing purple sleeveless short dresses lined with sequins along the hems of the skirts. There are also sequins on the front in the shape of a "M". The girls are wearing large feathery white hats with a chin strap, and they are holding batons on their right hands. The parade looks to be travelling down Queen Street. |
| Fonctions : | Photograph initially identified as from the 1977 Bread and Honey Festival but on back of photograph there is a stamp that reads "Mar 75t". Note: Tom Urbanik identified this as "Fritterfest" and not the Bread and Honey Festival (?). Streetsville's Bread and Honey Festival originated in 1973 to celebrate the founding of the village in 1858. The theme of bread and honey was chosen to reflect the village's milling and apiary history. The success of the first venture led to the Festival becoming an annual event for the first Saturday of every June. In 1974, the Festival was incorporated with Mayor McCallion's husband, Sam McCallion, as Charter President. After 1990, the Festival's popularity led to it becoming an entire weekend event. |
