Description : A black and white photograph with white borders. Photograph of Mayor Hazel McCallion and other City Councillors standing on the steps of the old City Hall. Mayor McCallion is standing next Mr. Harold Shipp, chairman and President of Trillium Dome Corp. Both McCallion and Mr. Shipp are holding a book about the proposed new Trillium Dome. Standing behind the Mayor, from left to right are: councillor David Culham, councillor (?), councillor Margaret Marland, councillor Larry Taylor, councillor Frank McKechnie, councillor Ted Southorn, councillor Rudy Skjarum and councillor Dave Cook. Councillor Steven Mahoney is standing on the far steps and holding the end of a large flag that reads "Trillium Dome".
Fonctions : Trillium Dome was the name of a proposed domed stadium to be built on northwest corner of Highways 401 and 10. The Trillium Dome was never built because The Sky Dome, now known as the Rogers Centre, was built beside the CN Tower in 1989. Jim Strasman Architects, located in Toronto, were the designers of the Trillium Dome. Mr. Harold Shipp, a local developer, was the Chairman and the President of the Trillium Dome Corp., a private company set up to help promote the Dome in Mississauga and to help build it if the proposal was approved by the Ontario government.
