Description : The exterior of this bag is made of multi-coloured floral carpet. The base of the bag is made of leather which is now worn and lifting at both ends. There is a tag at one end of the base of the bag. There are two leather handles and a gold coloured clasp at the opening of the bag. The interior of the bag is lined with a soft cotton material, which is now very dirty and brittle. The lining has been hand stitched. The bag is divided into two compartments by a wire divider, with material sewn over it. The overall appearance of the bag is very worn and fragile. It has been ripped in several places.
Commentaires : This carpet bag was used as an attache case by Joseph Gould, a prominent Uxbridge business man, politician and entrepreneur. The carpet bag is part of a larger display of artifacts that illustrate the Quaker heritage of the Uxbridge area.
