Description : | A rectangular, cork-sealed bottle that has a label from "Dr. F.C. Mellow, Uxbridge, Ont", originally containing medicine for bronchitis. |
Commentaires : | Dr. F.C Mellow started a medical practice in approximately 1912 in Uxbridge. He practiced for 51 years and died in 1963. The house on Main Street South where Dr. Mellow lived and practiced medicine has been described as "one of the oldest and best preserved frame homes in the town of Uxbridge." [From Arculus, P. and Hvidsten, J.P. Uxbridge-Scugog Historic Homes & Heritage Buildings, Observer Publishing of Port Perry, 2005.] The house served as a residence and office for local physicians for more than a hundred years. Classic Revival in style, the house has been designated under the Ontario Heritage Act.. |
