From 1965 to 1977 he brought his considerable administrative talents to bear as first full-time president of the Medical Research Council of Canada, an institution he had served as a committee member since 1953. His competent organization, energetic promotion, and fair-handed judgment were crucial in allowing the MRC to support medical research across the country in an effective and progressive manner during a period of rapid growth. |
