Commentaires : 02301 2019Legends of the Hall:00:00 - 00:50 - Burce introduces season 2, starts by talking about the greatest harness racing horse from the Schooners Stables in Truro with the trainer Brent MacGrath00:50 - 01:50 - Brent grew up with grooming horses, 1980 became the manager of Truro raceway, moved to Ontario, left the horse business, moved back to truro and kept horses as a hobby.01:50 - 03:15- Brent borrowed money from a friend who was a race fan, offered banker a trip to a horse sale, they all went, looking for an Ontario bread horse so he could race in Canada, most horses were selling for 3x the price of Somebeachsomewhere ($40,000 the rest around $120,000)03:15 - 04:50 - He saw he was very strong, looked like he could be the athlete they could be looking for, his mothers name was Wheres the beach04:50 - 05:30 - Came up with the name from all the beaches in Atlantic Canada05:30 - 07:15 - Brent goes on to say how Somebeachsomewhere was a perfect gentlemen, a lot of the other horses were loud but he was calm and happy to be where he was, he says that he loved people. Brent went to visit the horse while he was away and saw him for the first time in 8 months and when Brent first called his name he slowly came over, an hour later he called his name again and then he remembered who he was and became friendly again.07:15 - 09:00 - Bruce asks when the first moment Brent realized he had something special. Brent knew he had something a bit above average shortly after he got him, the first time the driver (Paul) trained him was very impressive, the driver asked Brent after if he had entered him into the biggest race for two year old horses, Brent has if he was that kind of horse and the driver said oh yeah hes that kind of horse. So Brent entered him into the race.09:00 - 09:30 - Fact on screen: Did you know? Somebeachsomewhere was named Canadian Harness Racing Horse of the Year in 2007 and 2008, and U.S Harness Racing horse of the year in 2008.09:30 -11:15 - Other horses made world records when they werent racing against Somebeachsomewhere. Other horses would make their money coming second to Somebeachsomewhere or having to go to other races where he wasnt there.11:15 - 15:05 - Brent says he picked the driver for the horse because they were friends and his style suited Brent and the horse very well. Brent says that 19 out of his 21 races the horse had more juice left in him. Brent explains racing strategies and pacing. Brent says when Somebeachsomewhere would get beat he would just get more aggressive and stepped up.15:05 - 16:10  - The horse was gaining much popularity after his wins, and his records.16:10 - 17:30 - Brent answers Bruce saying for this era he is the greatest harness racing horse. Before Somebeachsomewhere went to stud he made $3.7 million. Brent says they scratched him out of his first race as a three year old because he has a bruised foot. His team said whats best for him is what were going to do.17:30 - 19:00 - Brent says he could have raced beyond year 3 but racing is risky but there was definitely more money to be made if he kept racing. During the break on screen fact: Somebeachsomewhere is a member of the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame and the United States Harness Racing Hall of Fame. 19:00 - 21:30 - Somebeachsomewhere bread about 160 mayors a year at about $15,000 each. He says his gene pool was perfect for breading, his was an outcross.21:30 - 23:30 - The horse had a bit of a stomach issue, which turned out he had an intestine twist, they had to do surgery and they found out he had cancer. He passed away at age 13 which is about mid life. They guess they spent about $150,00 - $200,000 on treatment for the horse. He was down in his stall and could not get up. They did what was best for the horse.23:30 - End - He got lots of recognition and condolences for his death. His legacy will be kept on from his sons, daughters and grandsons and granddaughters. His phillies have also started to produce and they have been champions. Brent still stays in the sport and loves it with the young horses.
