| Description : | Length of hand-woven tartan, wool, blue and green background with white, red and broad black stripes. The colours and sett of this Macphail ancient hunting tartan were researched through the archives of the Scottish Tartan Society (www.tartanauthority.com). The colours were matched (with blue and green custom dyed) to a wool sample of similar setts and colours given to a member of the Macphail family by a custom tartan weaver in Edinburgh, 1951; the older traditional Macphail tartan has never been worn commercially; The Tartan was woven with 100 percent wool halcyon "Victorian" 2 ply, light coverlet weight. The Sett is as follows: Red 4, Blue 46, Black 28, Green 32, Black 4, White 4, woven in three sections; woven by Evelyn McQuaid of Prince Edward Island |
