Description : Totem-Nootka,carved wood,painted; Nuu-chah-nulth totem pole representing an unknown legend by unknown artist. Carved wooden totem consists of 4 figures (from top to bottom): owl, thunderbird in transition to human (human face on body), beaver and frog. Various features painted in white, green, black, turquoise blue, red and yellow.
Commentaires : Part of the Bruce Scott collection. Mr. Scott worked at the Bamfield Cable Station from 1930 to 1960. During his years on the West Coast, he acquired a fine colleciton of Native carvings, tools and baskets. The majority of this collection is on display at the Wickaninnish Centre, Pacific Rim National Park.
