Postcards of various scenes in Kentville. 2021.016.001 2285 (24-E) Town Hall and Fire Station, exterior of brick building. Fire station shows four bay doors, left-most one is open showing the front of a fire engine. The other 3 are closed and painted bright green. A power pole with a street light and traffic lights is in front of the open bay door. Also a road sign indicating Rte 1 and arrows pointing left and right are attached to the pole. To the right of the fire station is Town Hall, brick building with a Canadian flag mounted on the roof. Two pedestrians are in the picture, a woman pushing a child in a stroller and another walking in front of Town Hall. Clothing representative of 1960's. 2021.016.002 PI#2286 (24-E) Recess time at Kentville Schools - Brick buildings (left-most single story, second is 2 story, 3rd is larger 2 story). The corner of another brick building in showing in the right edge of the picture. A large driveway and parking area is in front of the buildings as well as approximately 20 cars parked. Large deciduous trees to the right of the parking lot as well as a set of climbing bars. Children and one adult are in the gravel area between the parking lot and the grass area at the right of the picture. 2021.016.003 PI#2287 (24-E) Hotel Cornwallis - Photo of exterior south and east sides of the building. Red brick building with white brick trim. Nova Scotia flag flying at half mast on the roof. Parking lot on south side of the building has about 12 cars circa 1960's parked. Two other brick buildings can be seen on the west side of Cornwallis St. A large sign at the corner of Hwy 1 and Cornwallis St is partially visible with the words Cornwallis Inn Motel. 2021.016.004 PI#2288 (24-E) Saint James Anglican Church - Exterior view of the north and east sides of the stone building. Deciduous trees in leaf behind the church and along the street in front of the church. Three cars and one truck parked along the street. Foreground shows the road sign for Leverett Ave. 2021.016.005 PI#2289 (24-E) Canada Agriculture Research Branch, Administrative Building - Exterior view of a white 2 storey building with a green roof. A Canadian flag is on the flagpole on the lawn in front of the building. Numerous very large trees on the lawn to the right of the driveway and obscure most of the front of the building. 2021.016.006 PI#2290 (24-F) Intersection of Main and Cornwallis Streets - Picture is taken looking westward along Main St. Most buildings have business signs hanging above the doors, most are too small in the picture to be legible except the corner building is McDougall's Rexall Drugs. A large sign on the east side of the intersection reads Cornwallis Inn Motor Hotel. Several cars and one pedestrian on main St. 2021.016.007 PI#2291 (24-D) Dominion Atlantic Railway Station Kentville - Exterior view of 2 red buildings. Smaller one in foreground along teh road has 4 windows, parking meter on street in front of it. Larger train station building is 2 storey with a large open area with a covered roof. Train tracks pass between the 2 buildings. A power pole and lines are beside the tracks and roadway. 2021.016.008 PI#2292 (24-E) United Baptist Church Kentville - Exterior view of the brick A-frame south side of the church and a white sided building to the west. White building has a brick chimney on the west side, arches over each of 5 long windows, and a stone fence along the south side of the building separating it from the sidewalk. Church has a display case for announcing services on the grass between the south side of the church and main st. Several large leafy trees around the buildings. Fire hydrant is showing at left side of picture. 2021.016.009 PI#2293 (24-E) Duplicate of United Baptist Church postcard 2021.016.008 2021.016.010 PI#2294 (24-E) Federal Building and Post Office Kentville - Exterior view of the south and east sides of the 2 storey brick building. South side (front of building) is white with 2 rows of windows. A wheelchair ramp extends from the door to the sidewalk in an easterly direction.
