Description : | Mandarin collar; fourteen hooks; thirteen bound holes for closing but bound holes do not appear to be for hooks, but for buttons with shanks. Three ruffles; go front over the shoulder and across back; leg-o-button sleeves made in two sections; course cotton twill lining; seven stays; strap on the inner jacket is made by cotton, fastens with hook and eye; no lining in collar. Linin in sleeves torn and ripped. Made by machine stitching and hand stitching. |
Fonctions : | The original donor was Jean Marsh, Wolfville. Jean was a prof at Acadia in secretarial sciences; town councillor and deputy Mayor of Wolfville. The dress was her grandmother's wedding dress. Worn by Anni Dent on September 12, 1893, when she married J.H.S. Cronk, Woodstock, Ontario. Annie lived with her grandmother Dent in their hotel in Wolfville. Her grandmother gave her the fabric for her wedding dress from one of her dresses. |
