Commentaires : Fan is from the Acadia Clothing Collection.  After the archival collection, one of the largest collections in the Museum is the historic textile collection. The original collection started in 1980 and doubled in size with the arrival of the Acadia Clothing Collection in the early 1990s. When the Home Economics Department closed at Acadia University, the historic clothing collection begun by Professor Charlotte Wade came to the Kings Historical Society. The collection, numbering over 1,000 pieces and dating from the late Victorian Era to the 1960s, presented unique challenges to the Society in terms of registration and storage. In order to accept this important collection a new committee - the Clothing Collections Committee under the direction of Betsy Sheffield was formed. Then in 2004, over a decade later, the work of this Committee resulted in the museum being the holder of one of the largest and most unique textile collections in Atlantic Canada.(Postscript: Betsy Sheffield passed away in 2005. In her honour, a textile room on the ground floor of the museum was renamed the Betsy A. Sheffield room. Today, the work of the Clothing Collections Committee continues in the capable hands of Ruth Butler, Barb Gerrits and Helen Seymour).
