| Description : | A framed photograph of a young bride, Barbara Sayers Gooderham, in 1939. Barbara holds a large waterfall bouquet of daises. The photograph is slightly discoloured and mounted on a matt. The frame has a grey/green crackle finish with gold painted artificial liner. The photograph was framed at: 'W. Haines, Artistic Picture Framing, Etchings, Woodcuts, Prints, etc., 899 Yonge St., Toronto, Phone Midway 4527.'; Prise en 1939, cette photo encadrée montre la jeune mariée, Barbara Sayers Gooderham. Barbara tient un grand bouquet de pâquerettes. La photo est un peu décolorée et est montée sur un support. La finition du cadre est grise-verte qui semble être craquée. La photo a été encadrée chez «W. Haines, Artistic Picture Framing, Etchings, Woodcuts, Prints, etc.,» au 899, rue Yonge à Toronto, téléphone «Midway 4527». |
| Fonctions : | Barbara Anne Sayers married Melville Gooderham on June 23rd, 1939 at St. Peter's Anglican Church in Erindale. A wedding reception was held at Benares Historic House and Barbara's sister, Dora, acted as the Maid of Honour wearing a light blue organdie dress. Mel and Barbara had two children, Geoffrey and Christine. Geoffrey's son, Andrew married Sandy Hyhko on June 23rd, 2007 in a ceremony and reception held at Benares. The date and reception where chosen in honour of his grandparent's wedding. Item donated by Barbara Sayers Larson. Barbara Larson is the daughter of Annie Harris (1882-1986) and Beverly Sayers (1882-1976) and granddaughter of Arthur (1843-1932) and Mary (1859-1954) Harris. Barbara was born January 27, 1920 and was the youngest of three children. Barbara and her siblings, Geoffrey Sayers (1907-1997) and Dora Sayers Caro (1915-2004) donated Benares to the Ontario Heritage Foundation in 1969 after inheriting it from their aunt, Naomi Harris (1883-1968). Many of the items donated by Barbara originally belonged to her mother or Aunt Naomi and came from Benares. Barbara lived in a log cabin originally given to her by her grandparents at 1723 Birchwood Drive. She still maintains a close tie with Benares and is now living in Kelowna, British Columbia, with her daughter.; Les articles sont un don de Barbara Sayers Larson.
