Description : | Four blank note cards or writing paper with military style letterhead at the top. The letterhead consists of two parts, a Latin inscription that reads 'ARTIBUS ET ARMIS' under which is a drawing of severed human that is bleeding. The head is held up by an armoured human arm over what seems to be a female (?). The text and image are printed in red ink. |
Fonctions : | Various Harris family members had several variations of this notecard used in their personal correspondence. The Harris crest and motto translates to 'By Arts and Arms'. It reflects the family's military background. The crest and motto have appeared in other items in the collection in blue ink as well on several items of silverware. |
