Description : | This artefact is a school blackboard. Made from wood with a green painted writing surface this blackboard was designed to be mounted on the classroom wall. The corners of the wooden frame have been reinforced by steel wedges that have been nailed over the seam at each corner. The bottom section of the frame is wider than the other three sides and acts as a tray for chalk. |
Commentaires : | The blackboard was purchased by Rev. F.C. Paul Grubb in September of 1951. A letter written to Dicks & Co. in St. John's indicated that he ordered two such blackboards. It also indicates that the Moravian Mission in Makkovik dealt with the merchant firm of Job Brothers in St. John's as he informed Dicks that they could charge the cost to their account with Job Brothers. |
