| Description : | The grapnel (or anchor) is made from a heavy metal " possibly iron. It consists of a long rod, at the end of which are three inward-curving arms. Attached to the other end is a long, thick rope. |
| Commentaires : | The grapnel and rope " or anchor and mooring line " was used to hold a boat in position on the fishing ground, or while in place at the wharf. When dropped into the water, the great weight of the anchor held the boat in place. |
