Description : The artifact is a set of small binoculars made of metal with a peacock and flower design on the barrels. There is a 3X inscribed in the surface as well as a black, plastic adjustment knob. The barrells are connected with strips of metal and the barrels gradually get bigger towards the viewfinder end.
Commentaires : The size and intricate, feminine design on these binoculars strongly indicate that they are Galilean binoculars (Opera Glasses). These types of binoculars would be used at the theatre for those on the balconies. They had a low magnification to enhance the theatre attendee's experience by enlarging the action on the stage for persons situated closer to the back of the auditorium.
Fonctions : There is an inscription on the spy glasses which reads "Made in Occupied Japan.
