Description : | The artifact is a manual kitchen appliance for kneading and mixing ingredients for dough. It consists of a metal pail with a lid and a hand crank. There are directions etched into the top of the machine. The instructions read "Put in all liquids first then flour- Turn 3 minutes- Raise in pail after raising-Turn until dough forms a ball- Take off crosspiece- Lift out dough with kneader". |
Commentaires : | This dough maker was manufactured by Landers, Frary and Clark and is the Universal No. 4 Bread Maker in their line of products. This product was awarded a Gold medal at the St. Louis Exposition in 1904. This machine is used to knead dough to make bread and is hand propelled. Advertisements of the time for this appliance explained that it was sanitary and scientific creating "better bread". |
