| Description : | This axle bed, likely part of the undercarriage for a two-seated "Surrey" style carriage, was finished, painted and trimmed with ornate pinstripe details after assembly. The axle bed lengths were affixed with clips to the axle bed cross pieces at either end at equidistant locations. The carriage body would have rested on the unpainted horizontal upper surface, where it would have been secured with wooden dowels at the three visible bore-hole locations. |
