Description : This is a case made of a light coloured wood that has two brass hinges on its left and a brass clasp on its right. On the front is a carved decorative border as well as two poppies, a maple leaf, and "WE REMEMBER" on a banner. On the inside left of the case is a black and white photograph of a standing soldier; under the photograph is a brief typed history of the soldier. On the inside left in the top left corner is a bronze maple leaf shaped cap badge, in the top right corner is a blue curved shoulder flash. To the photos left is a VIII cap badge and below it is a circular pin with a Union Jack in the center. To the photos right is a maple leaf shaped collar dog and under it is a VIII collar dog. On the cases inside right are 3 pips at the center top and below them are 3 medals. Below the medals is a typed history of the soldier during his time in World War Two and when he was born and died. To the left of this is another VII collar dog and to the right is a small brass pin with an "L" and below that is a large circular pin made of steel. The inside of the case is lined in a red velvet cloth.
Commentaires : This collaction of photos, badges, information, medals and the case were made by James MacAulay's family to preserve the pieces. James MacAulay was born 30 September 1895 in Lower Millstream, New Brunswick. He fought in WWI with the 5th and 6th Canadian Mounted Rifles and was wounded in June 1916. He was honourably discharged 31 January 1918 and was a corporal. In Wolrd War Two he was a captain with the 8th Princess Louise's N.B. Hussars. He died 1 November 1969 in Sussex, New Brunswick and is buried in Apohaqui, New Brunswick. He received 3 medals for WW1" the 1914-15 Star, the British War medal, and the Victory medal, all of which are in this case.
