Description : This aspirator consists of a cylindrical body (pump) with a glass jar behind it, and a rectangular front portion. A glass vial is attached on both sides of the front. The vial on the left side contains a filter, while that one the right holds a cork ball. A gauge dial is located at the top of the front portion of the machine. A clear tube runs from the vial holding the cork to the lid of the glass jar, and from there to the end tip of the device. A cord coming from the back of the machine plugs into an electrical outlet.
Commentaires : To use this device, the hollow end tip of the aspirator would have been inserted into the affected area of the patient. The pump would create suction in the tube, extracting the fluid from the patient and depositing it into the airtight glass jar. Volume markings on the side of the jar allowed the doctor to measure the amount of fluid removed. The donor and history of this particular aspirator are unknown.
Fonctions : The aspirator was used for extracting fluids from body cavities.
