Commentaires : | This book was first printed in 1926, and was created to supplement lectures in a nursing program. It has 456 pages, and 24 chapters. These chapters include: The Newborn and the Infant, Breast Feeding, Artificial Feeding, The Milk Laboratory, Procedures Connected with the Admission of the Child to the Hospital, Nursing Procedures Involved in Routine Ward Work, Methods of Supplying the Body with Fluids and other procedures, The Premature Infant, Diseases of the Respiratory Tract, The Communicable Diseases, Orthopedic Nursing. This book has black and white photographs and illustrations showing examples of diseases, equipment, and procedures. Gladys Sellew, the author of the book, graduated from the School of Nursing and Health at the University of Cincinnati and wrote several books on pediatric nursing. This particular copy was used by Barbara Gibbs when she was studying nursing at St. Vincent's Hospital in New York City. St. Vincent's Hospital was opened in 1849 by the Sisters of Charity New York. It is a Catholic hospital that still trains nurses and doctors today |
