| Description : | This Sanborn Metabulator Model 10 is housed in a wooden cabinet. Four roller casters with braking levers are inserted into the legs of the cabinet. The cabinet is Old English all-mahogany. It has a fabric cover for the operating portion of the instrument. The three major operating units are set in a compactly designed chassis with all operating controls at one level across the top of the instrument. The Metabulator chassis can be lifted out and fit into a carrying case (which the museum does not have). There is a small drawer in the front of the cabinet to hold supplies. The following supplies are in the drawer: the instruction manual and supplement, replacement parts list, 2 sheets of descriptive material, 5 mouthpieces, 3 small packages of cotton swabs, slide rule calculator and scale in a case to compute BMR's , adhesive tape, and 3 record pads. |
| Commentaires : | The Sanborn Metabulator (Electrocardiogram Recorder) was donated to the Bathurst Heritage Museum by Helen and Ligouri Roy of Bathurst, New Brunswick, both were former employees of the hospital. Helen was an ICU Nurse and used this machine while caring for her patients. Her husband Ligouri repaired them. Ligouri bought this artifact for ten dollars ($10.00) when items from the Hotel-Dieu Hospital were sold after the Chaleur Regional Hospital opened on Sunset Drive, Bathurst, New Brunswick. |
