The white portion represents the ore that was mined after the year 2000 to the end of the mining operation. The model is built to scale (1:1500 metric). |
Commentaires : | The mine was discovered in January, 1953. It entered into production in, 1964. The Brunswick #12 orebody was the largest deposit in the Bathurst area and was one of the largest underground zinc mines in the world well into the late 1990s. The mine was officially closed at the end of April, 2013. This model of Brunswick #12, part of the Brunswick Mine, was created by Rheal Godin of Bathurst, New Brunswick. He began to create the model in 1992 and finished it in 1996. Rheal worked at Brunswick from 1971 to 2000. From 1990 to 2000 the bulk of his job was to do computerized three dimentional geological modeling. The mine spans down 3700 feet. The replica of the CN Tower is to give people a better idea of the the immensity of the ore deposit. |
